A place for users of Anacostia Hours to blog about their transactions! Anacostia Hours is a local currency originating in the "Gateway" towns of Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville, Maryland. It may be used and exchanged anywhere, with anyone for any negotiated price, but the official exchange rate is $10/Hour. The idea is to create a circle of local transactions of goods and services. Learn about how it is working here!

Today's Meeting
Today we had a meeting, a retreat at Magruder Park. It went well. One of the outcomes for me is that Anacostia Hours is not just currency, but a conversation revolving around the currency. Why we use Anacostia Hours--to keep money from going to war, to keep money local, to foster community, to encourage local transactions and reliance on each other. The truth of Anacostia Hours is manifested in the transactions that occur, and that truth comes out in the stories of how Anacostia Hours have been used in local transactions of neighbors giving and receiving local services. On this blog, we encourage you to share your experiences of using Anacostia Hours so we can all see how the Hours are working and what goods and services are being exchanged! Blog away!
